Description
Disodium EDTA dihydrate (CAS 6381-92-6) is the disodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, supplied as a white crystalline powder and commonly referenced under trade names such as BETZ 0640 and EDATHAMIL. It carries no E-code designation and is distinct from the free acid form, EDTA acid.
In water treatment, it sequesters calcium, magnesium, and heavy metal ions by forming stable coordination complexes, preventing scale formation and metal-catalysed degradation. In personal care formulations, it deactivates trace metals that would otherwise accelerate oxidative rancidity in emulsions, extending product shelf life without acting as a primary preservative.
Disodium EDTA dihydrate is available in pharmaceutical grade (Ph.Eur., USP/FCC) and technical grade, supporting applications across regulated and industrial sectors. It is fully registered under REACH (EC 613-386-6) and classified under HS code 29224995. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags; bulk quantities are available on request.
