Description

Disodium Phenyl Dibenzimidazole Tetrasulfonate (CAS 180898-37-7, EC 605-910-7) is a water-soluble UV filter used in cosmetic formulations, commonly known by the trade name Neo Heliopan AP and abbreviated as DPDT or Bisimidazylate. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under UV absorbers and stabilizers.

This ingredient is used primarily in sunscreen and photoprotective personal care products, where it absorbs UVA radiation in the 320–400 nm range and converts it to harmless heat energy. It is particularly suited to aqueous formulations such as after-sun lotions and tinted moisturisers, where its water solubility enables high loading without compromising texture.

DPDT is supplied in compliance with EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, which lists it as an approved UV filter, and falls under REACH registration obligations. Procurement teams should confirm supplier documentation includes a full safety data sheet and certificate of analysis aligned to cosmetic-grade specifications.
