Description

Disperse Red 17 (CAS 3179-89-3, EC 221-665-5) is a synthetic azo disperse dye also identified as C.I. 11210 and sold under trade names including Amacel Red AB and Navicet Red GG. It carries no E-code designation and is classified within the disperse dye family, formulated specifically for application to hydrophobic fibres.

Disperse Red 17 is used primarily in the dyeing of polyester, acetate, and nylon textiles, where it penetrates fibre structures under heat and pressure in the absence of a carrier solvent. It is also applied in leather finishing to achieve red-to-violet tonal ranges, and in paper colouration where surface affinity to synthetic-coated substrates is required.

Disperse Red 17 is supplied as a technical-grade powder and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Suppliers typically offer it in fibre drums or multi-layer bags. Buyers should request a full SDS and confirm compliance status with current SVHC candidate list obligations before procurement.
