Description

DL-Alanine (CAS 302-72-7) is a racemic amino acid supplied as a white crystalline powder, commonly abbreviated as DL-Ala or DL-ALA. It carries no E-code designation and is distinct from the L-form used in protein synthesis. It is registered under EC number 206-126-4 and classified under HS code 29224995.

In personal care formulations, DL-Alanine functions as a humectant and skin conditioner by attracting and retaining moisture within the stratum corneum, while also acting as a buffering agent to stabilise product pH in the 4.5 to 6.5 range. In food and pharmaceutical applications, it serves as a flavour modifier and mild reducing agent in controlled reaction systems.

DL-Alanine is available in food-grade and cosmetic-grade forms, with material compliant to FCC and Ph.Eur. standards depending on application. It is fully REACH-registered for supply within the European Economic Area. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags, with smaller quantities available on request.
