Description

DL-Sodium lactate (CAS 72-17-3, E325, also known commercially as Lacolin) is the sodium salt of lactic acid, supplied as a colourless syrup at typical concentrations of 60–80%. It carries EC number 200-772-0 and molecular formula C3H6O3.Na.

In food manufacturing, sodium lactate extends shelf life of cooked meats by lowering water activity and inhibiting pathogen growth, particularly Listeria monocytogenes. In personal care formulations, it acts as a humectant and pH buffer, drawing moisture into the stratum corneum and maintaining skin-compatible pH ranges between 4.5 and 6.5.

DL-Sodium lactate is available in food-grade (E325, FCC), pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur.), and cosmetic-grade specifications. It falls under REACH regulation and is classified under HS code 29181100. Standard packaging includes IBC containers and bulk drums; documentation including SDS and certificates of analysis is available on request.
