Dodecylguanidine hydrochloride

Dodecylguanidine hydrochloride (CAS 13590-97-1, EC 237-030-0), also known commercially as Metasol DGH, is a guanidine-based cationic biocide belonging to the amine chemical class. It carries no assigned E-code and is identified by the molecular formula C13H29N3·ClH. No standard abbreviation is in common industry use beyond the trade name.

In water treatment, it controls microbial growth in cooling towers and process water by disrupting bacterial cell membranes through electrostatic interaction with negatively charged membrane surfaces. It is also applied in textile and leather processing as a preservative against fungi and bacteria during wet storage and finishing stages.
