Dolomite

Dolomite (CAS 16389-88-1, EC 240-440-2) is a naturally occurring calcium magnesium carbonate mineral, commercially known under designations such as DRB 4/21, pearlspar, rhomb-spar, gurhofite, and taraspite. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified within the salts and minerals category.

In water treatment, dolomite is used to remineralise and raise the pH of soft or acidic water by dissolving slowly and releasing calcium and magnesium ions, reducing corrosivity. In agriculture, ground dolomite corrects soil acidity and simultaneously supplies two macronutrients. In construction and mining, it serves as a flux and aggregate material.

Dolomite is sourced in multiple particle size grades suited to filtration media, soil amendment, and industrial processing applications. It falls under REACH registration requirements for industrial supply within the EU. Packaging formats vary by grade and supplier, typically ranging from bulk delivery to bagged formats for smaller volumes.
