Description
EDTA Trisodium Salt (CAS 150-38-9) is a chelating agent derived from EDTA, commercially known under names such as Trilon AO and abbreviated as EDTA 3Na. It carries three sodium counterions, giving it a slightly alkaline character that distinguishes it from the disodium and tetrasodium variants. No E-code designation applies to this grade.
In water treatment, EDTA 3Na sequesters calcium, magnesium, and heavy metal ions by forming stable, soluble complexes that prevent scale formation and metal-catalysed degradation. In personal care formulations, it deactivates trace metals in rinse-off products, protecting fragrance and active ingredients from oxidative breakdown. In textile processing, it controls metal ion interference during dyeing to improve colour consistency.
EDTA Trisodium Salt is available in powder and liquid form, supplied in grades conforming to REACH registration requirements and, where specified, to FCC or Ph.Eur. standards. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and IBC containers. Buyers should confirm grade suitability against their application's regulatory framework prior to procurement.
