Description

Ensulizole (CAS 27503-81-7) is a water-soluble UV filter used in personal care and pharmaceutical formulations, commercially available under trade names including Parsol HS, Eusolex 232, and Novantisol. It carries no E-code designation and is identified under EC number 248-502-0.

In sunscreen and photoprotective cosmetics, Ensulizole absorbs UVB radiation in the 290–320 nm range, converting photon energy to heat and reducing UV-induced skin damage. It is also incorporated into pharmaceutical topical preparations where UV stabilization of active ingredients is required, and has documented antimicrobial activity relevant to preservation systems.

Ensulizole is supplied as a fine crystalline powder and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU market access. Concentration limits are defined under EU Cosmetics Regulation No. 1223/2009, permitting up to 4% in finished formulations. Procurement teams should confirm grade specification and documentation package, including SDS and CoA, prior to ordering.
