Description

Erucyl alcohol (CAS 629-98-1) is a long-chain fatty alcohol derived from erucic acid, commonly sourced from rapeseed or mustard seed oil. It is also referred to as erucic alcohol, cis-13-docosenol, and carries the EC number 211-122-0. No E-code designation applies to this material.

In personal care formulations, erucyl alcohol functions as an emollient and emulsifier, helping to stabilise oil-water systems and condition skin by reducing transepidermal water loss. In polymer processing and metalworking, it acts as an internal lubricant and slip agent, reducing friction between polymer chains or metal surfaces during forming operations.

Erucyl alcohol is supplied in compliance with REACH regulations and is available in technical and cosmetic grades. Typical physical forms range from powder and lump to molten liquid for bulk transfer. Standard packaging includes fibre drums and IBCs, with documentation available upon request.
