Description

Erythritol (CAS 149-32-6, E968) is a four-carbon sugar alcohol produced by fermentation of glucose, commercially available under trade names including C\Eridex, Paycite, and Phycitol. It carries EC number 205-737-3 and molecular formula C4H10O4.

In food and beverage formulations, erythritol functions as a bulk sweetener and humectant, binding free water to extend shelf life and control water activity. In personal care, it acts as a skin conditioner and mild antimicrobial, disrupting microbial cell membranes at relevant concentrations. It also serves as a crosslinker in polymer and coating systems.

Erythritol is supplied as a crystalline powder meeting FCC, Ph.Eur., and E968 specifications, with REACH compliance confirmed under EU regulation. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk formats. Grades suitable for food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical applications are available from European-registered suppliers.
