Description

Ethyl linoleate (CAS 544-35-4) is the ethyl ester of linoleic acid, a naturally occurring polyunsaturated fatty acid derivative. It is commercially available under trade names including Mandenol and Nikkol VF-E, and is also referred to as ethyl linolate or linoleic acid ethyl ester. It carries no assigned E-code.

In personal care formulations, ethyl linoleate functions as a skin-conditioning emollient and carrier, delivering active ingredients transdermally by integrating into the lipid barrier. In food and pharmaceutical applications, it serves as a lipophilic solvent and dispersant for fat-soluble actives, and its ester structure supports controlled release and improved bioavailability in soft-gel and encapsulation systems.

Ethyl linoleate is supplied in neat liquid form and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU market supply. Grades suitable for food and pharmaceutical use are available, with compliance assessed against FCC and Ph.Eur. monograph standards where applicable. Standard packaging includes drums and intermediate bulk containers.
