Description

Ethyl oleate (CAS 111-62-6) is a fatty acid ethyl ester produced by the esterification of oleic acid with ethanol. It is commercially available under trade names including Crodamol EO, Nikkol EOO, Esterol 123, and Nofable EO 99, and is registered under FEMA 2450 for flavour applications.

In pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations, ethyl oleate functions as a low-viscosity carrier that enhances skin penetration of active ingredients by disrupting lipid bilayer organisation. In food flavouring, it contributes fatty, waxy top notes at low concentrations. In metalworking fluids, it acts as a boundary lubricant, reducing friction between metal surfaces under load.

Ethyl oleate is available in cosmetic, food-grade (FCC-compliant), and pharmaceutical grades meeting Ph.Eur. monograph requirements. It is fully REACH-registered for supply within the EU. Standard packaging includes drums and IBCs, with food and pharma grades supplied under certificate of analysis.
