Description

Ethylenediamine (EDA), also known as Edamine, 1,2-Diaminoethane, and β-Aminoethylamine, is a primary diamine with two reactive amine groups on adjacent carbon atoms. It carries no E-code designation and is classified within the aliphatic amines group. The CAS registry number is 107-15-3.

In epoxy resin systems, EDA acts as a curing agent by reacting with epoxide groups to form cross-linked polymer networks, directly determining final mechanical properties. In water treatment and agricultural chelate formulations, its diamine structure coordinates with metal ions to form stable complexes, controlling metal availability and preventing scale formation.

EDA is supplied under REACH registration and is available in industrial and technical grades, typically in liquid form. Standard packaging includes drums and IBC containers for bulk procurement. Buyers in pharmaceutical or food-adjacent applications should confirm grade suitability, as Ph.Eur. or FCC specifications may apply depending on end use.
