Description

FD&C Blue No. 2, also known as Indigo, Indigotin, or CI 73000 (CAS 482-89-3), is a naturally derived organic pigment with a long history of use across industrial and commercial applications. It carries the EC number 207-586-9 and is classified under HS code 32041510.

In textile dyeing, Indigo bonds to cellulose fibres through a reduction-oxidation process: the pigment is chemically reduced to a soluble form, absorbed by the fibre, then re-oxidised to restore its characteristic blue colour. In printing and packaging, it functions as a stable organic pigment in ink formulations where consistent hue and resistance to fading are required.

This product is supplied as a dark violet powder compliant with REACH regulations and is available for industrial procurement across European markets. Buyers should confirm applicable grade specifications for their end-use sector. Standard packaging formats and minimum order quantities are available on request.
