Description

Ferrous gluconate (CAS 299-29-6) is an iron salt of gluconic acid, commercially known under trade names including Fergon, Feravol, Cerevon, and Entron. It delivers bioavailable divalent iron in a form that is well-tolerated across food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical matrices.

In food production, ferrous gluconate functions as an iron fortification agent and colour-retention additive in processed olives, where it stabilises the black pigmentation through chelation of phenolic compounds. In personal care formulations, it acts as a skin conditioner and chelator, binding trace metal ions that would otherwise catalyse oxidative degradation of active ingredients.

Ferrous gluconate is supplied as a light grey solid in food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade specifications, with compliance available against FCC and Ph.Eur. monographs. It is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Packaging is typically offered in fibre drums or multi-layer bags suited to bulk procurement volumes.
