Description

Ferrous Sulfate Hydrate (CAS 13463-43-9) is an inorganic iron(II) salt supplied as a hydrated form, also referenced under the names Ferrosi Sulfas, Ferrosulfate Hydrate, and Iron(II) Sulfate Hydrate. It carries no assigned E-code and is identified under EC number 603-840-1 with the molecular formula Fe.H2O4S.xH2O.

In water treatment, it acts as a coagulant by releasing ferrous ions that destabilise suspended particles and precipitate phosphates, reducing eutrophication in effluent streams. In agriculture, it corrects iron-deficiency chlorosis in soils by providing a bioavailable iron source, and in textile processing it serves as a mordant and reducing agent in dyeing operations.

Ferrous Sulfate Hydrate is available in technical, feed-grade, and pharmaceutical grades, with the latter conforming to Ph.Eur. monograph standards. It is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Packaging typically ranges from 25 kg bags to bulk quantities depending on grade and application.
