Ginkgo biloba extract

Ginkgo biloba extract (CAS 90045-36-6, EC 289-896-4), also referred to as Ginkgo Extract or Ginkgo biloba ext., is a standardised botanical extract derived from the dried leaves of Ginkgo biloba L. The most recognised commercial grade, commonly designated 24/6, is standardised to 24% flavonol glycosides and 6% terpene lactones.

In pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulations, the extract functions as an antioxidant by scavenging free radicals and inhibiting lipid peroxidation, supporting cognitive and circulatory health products. In personal care applications, it is incorporated into topical formulations where its antioxidant activity helps protect skin cells against oxidative stress.

Ginkgo biloba extract is available in standardised dry powder grades, most commonly the 24/6 specification, and is subject to monograph requirements under Ph.Eur. and relevant REACH registration obligations for EU market supply.
