Description

Glucono delta-lactone (GDL, E575, gluconolactone) is a naturally derived cyclic ester of gluconic acid, produced through the oxidation of glucose. It hydrolyses gradually in water to release gluconic acid, making it a slow-acting acidulant with a mild, clean taste profile.

In food manufacturing, GDL is used as a coagulant in tofu production and as a leavening acid in baked goods, where its controlled hydrolysis rate allows precise pH management during processing. In personal care formulations, it functions as a humectant and skin conditioner by attracting moisture and supporting the skin barrier at low use levels.

GDL is available as a white crystalline powder in food-grade and cosmetic-grade specifications, compliant with E575 (EU), FCC, and Ph.Eur. standards. It is registered under REACH and supplied in standard 25 kg bags. Bulk and custom packaging formats are available on request.
