Glycerin monodecanoate

Glycerin monodecanoate (CAS 26402-22-2), also known as monocaprin or glyceryl monodecanoate, is a monoglyceride ester formed from glycerol and capric acid (C10). It is sold under trade names including Poem M-200 and Sunsoft 767, and carries no assigned E-number in EU food additive legislation.

In food and pharmaceutical formulations, monocaprin functions as an emulsifier by reducing interfacial tension between oil and water phases, stabilising emulsions at low use levels. It is also investigated in topical pharmaceutical and personal care applications for its membrane-active properties, which support penetration enhancement and antimicrobial activity in cream and ointment systems.
