Description

Glyceryl caprylate (CAS 26402-26-6) is a monoglyceride ester derived from glycerol and caprylic acid, commercially available under trade names including Sefsol 318, Poem M-100, Drewmulse CA, and Monocaprylin. It carries no E-number designation and is also referred to as monooctanoin in pharmaceutical literature.

In personal care formulations, glyceryl caprylate functions as both an emulsifier and a preservation booster, disrupting microbial cell membranes to inhibit bacterial and fungal growth at concentrations typically between 0.5% and 2%. In food and pharmaceutical applications, it acts as an emulsifying agent and humectant, improving texture and moisture retention in lipid-based delivery systems and processed food matrices.

Glyceryl caprylate is supplied in powder to lump form and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Grades conforming to food-contact and cosmetic-use specifications are available, and buyers should confirm purity certificates and supplier documentation prior to procurement under HS code 29159000.
