Glyceryl monostearate

Glyceryl Monostearate (GMS) is a monoglyceride ester derived from glycerol and stearic acid, registered under CAS 11099-07-3 and EC 234-325-6. It is commercially available under trade names including T 4, A 300, S 1097, OL 100, and Stearin, and functions as a non-ionic emulsifier across multiple industrial sectors.

In food manufacturing, GMS stabilises fat-water emulsions in margarines and baked goods by orienting at the oil-water interface, reducing surface tension and preventing phase separation. In plastics processing, it acts as a plasticizer and internal lubricant in PVC and polyolefin compounds, reducing melt viscosity and improving surface finish during extrusion.

GMS is supplied in food-grade, cosmetic-grade, and pharmaceutical-grade forms, with compliance available against FCC, Ph.Eur., and REACH requirements. Typical packaging formats include 25 kg bags and bulk containers. Buyers should confirm grade specification against intended application prior to ordering.
