Description

Glyceryl ricinoleate (CAS 1323-38-2) is a monoglyceride ester derived from castor oil, formed by esterifying glycerol with ricinoleic acid. It is commercially available under trade names including Loxiol G 11, Surfactol 13, Ricigyl, and Laricine. No E-code designation applies to this ingredient.

In personal care formulations, glyceryl ricinoleate functions as an oil-in-water emulsifier and humectant, helping to stabilise emulsions while binding moisture to the skin surface. In lubricant and metalworking applications, its ester structure provides film-forming lubricity, reducing friction between metal surfaces. It also serves as a plasticiser and processing aid in food-contact and industrial contexts.

Glyceryl ricinoleate is supplied as a liquid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Cosmetic-grade material is available for personal care applications, and suppliers should confirm compliance with EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Packaging typically ranges from drums to intermediate bulk containers depending on order volume.
