Description

Goethite (CAS 1310-14-1) is a naturally occurring iron oxyhydroxide pigment, also known by the E-code E 172, and referenced under trade designations including PDS 02, GNA 85, and Allcharite. It is the yellow-brown form within the iron oxide pigment family, chemically expressed as FeO(OH).

In coatings and construction materials, goethite delivers stable yellow-ochre coloration while contributing surface modification properties that improve substrate adhesion and wetting behavior. In food and nutrition applications, it functions as a permitted colorant under E 172 regulations, providing consistent hue in processed products without chemical interaction with the matrix.

Goethite is supplied in crystalline solid form and is compliant with E 172 specifications for food-grade applications, with industrial grades available for coatings, plastics, and printing applications. Procurement should confirm REACH registration status and applicable grade specifications prior to sourcing. Standard packaging formats vary by supplier and application requirement.
