Description

HEDP potassium salt (CAS 67953-76-8, EC 267-956-0) is the potassium neutralised form of hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid, commonly abbreviated as HEDP.Kx. It is supplied under trade names including Sequion 10K44 and Briquest ADPA 60AW, and carries no assigned E-code.

In water treatment, it inhibits scale formation and corrosion by binding calcium and heavy metal ions at pipe surfaces, disrupting crystal growth at sub-stoichiometric concentrations. In textile and leather processing, it sequesters hardness ions in process baths, preventing metal-catalysed degradation of dyes and fibres. Personal care formulators use it as a chelating stabiliser in rinse-off products.

HEDP potassium salt is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU and is handled under standard phosphonate compliance frameworks. It is available in liquid form at varying degrees of potassium neutralisation. Buyers should confirm grade specification and concentration with the supplier prior to procurement.
