Description

Hedp tetrasodium salt (CAS 3794-83-0) is a phosphonate-based chelating agent commercially available under trade names including Dequest 2016, Tarpinel 4NL, and Deflocen 43. It carries no assigned E-code and is commonly abbreviated as HEDP-Na4 in technical documentation.

In water treatment, it inhibits scale formation by binding calcium and magnesium ions before they precipitate onto heat exchanger surfaces. In textile and leather processing, it sequesters heavy metal contaminants that would otherwise interfere with dyeing uniformity. It also functions as a corrosion inhibitor in cooling water circuits by forming a protective coordination layer on metal surfaces.

The product is supplied as a solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Union. Procurement teams should confirm grade specifications against intended application requirements, particularly where oil, gas, or personal care end-uses impose additional regulatory scrutiny. Suppliers typically offer this material in industrial bulk packaging.
