Description

Hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA) is a reactive methacrylate monomer available under trade names including Rocryl 410, Bisomer HPMA, and HPMA 97/98. It carries CAS number 27813-02-1 and EC number 248-666-3, and carries no assigned E-code. It is a functional monomer used as a building block in polymer synthesis.

In UV-curable coatings, HPMA acts as a reactive diluent that lowers viscosity while incorporating into the polymer network during curing, reducing VOC output compared to solvent-based systems. In acrylic adhesives and pressure-sensitive formulations, its hydroxyl group enables cross-linking with isocyanates or melamines, directly improving cohesive strength and thermal resistance.

HPMA is supplied in stabilized liquid form, typically at 97% or 98% purity grades, with inhibitor levels adjusted for storage stability. It is registered under REACH and handled in accordance with applicable CLP classification requirements. Standard packaging includes drums and IBC containers for bulk procurement.
