Description

Iron Oxide Yellow (CAS 51274-00-1) is a synthetic inorganic pigment also known as Iron Yellow, Ferric Oxide, and E172(iii). It delivers a stable yellow hue through its hydrated iron oxide composition and is approved under E 172 for use in food applications across the EU.

In construction materials such as concrete and paving, it tints cement mixes by dispersing uniformly through alkaline matrices without fading under UV exposure. In coatings and plastics, it provides opacity and colour consistency across high-temperature processing conditions, functioning as a heat-stable chromatic pigment rather than a dye.

Iron Oxide Yellow is available in pigment-grade and food-grade forms, with the latter complying with E 172 (EU), FCC, and Ph.Eur. standards. It falls under REACH regulation and requires an up-to-date Safety Data Sheet for EU trade. Packaging formats typically include 25 kg bags or bulk supply depending on grade.
