Isophorondiamine

Isophoronediamine (IPDA, CAS 2855-13-2) is a cycloaliphatic diamine derived from isophorone, supplied as a faintly yellow liquid under the EC number 220-666-8. It carries no E-code designation and is commercially recognised under the abbreviations IPDA and IPD across coatings and polymer industries.

In epoxy coating systems, IPDA reacts with epoxide groups to form a crosslinked network, delivering improved UV stability and weathering resistance compared to aliphatic amines. It also serves as a chain extender and curing agent in polyurea and polyurethane elastomers, where its bifunctional amine groups control network density and mechanical performance.

IPDA is available in standard industrial grades and supplied in compliance with REACH regulations. Packaging typically includes drums and IBC containers suited to bulk procurement.
