Description

Isopropyl oleate (CAS 112-11-8, EC 203-935-4) is a fatty acid ester produced by esterifying oleic acid with isopropyl alcohol. Also known as oleic acid isopropyl ester or isopropyl (Z)-9-octadecenoate, it carries no assigned E-code and is not classified as a food additive.

In personal care formulations, it functions as an emollient carrier that reduces skin drag and improves active ingredient penetration without leaving a heavy residue. In metalworking and lubricant applications, its ester structure provides film-forming lubricity, reducing friction between metal surfaces during cutting and forming operations.

Isopropyl oleate is supplied in technical and cosmetic grades and falls under REACH registration requirements for EU market supply. Procurement quantities typically range from drum to IBC formats. Buyers should confirm grade specification against intended application, particularly where cosmetic-grade purity documentation is required.
