Isothiazolin-3-one (CAS 1003-07-2) is a sulfur- and nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound, also known under trade names such as Ebotec Aqua and Duo Mei Jing, and referenced by synonyms including thiazol-3-one and isothiazalone. It belongs to the isothiazolinone family of biocidal actives used across industrial preservation applications.

In water treatment, it controls microbial growth in cooling towers and process water systems by disrupting cellular enzyme function in bacteria and fungi. In coatings and adhesives, it acts as an in-can preservative, preventing spoilage during storage by inhibiting microbial proliferation at low active concentrations.

Isothiazolin-3-one is supplied as a solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU.
