Description

L-Citrulline (CAS 372-75-8, EC 206-759-6) is a naturally occurring amino acid found in watermelon and synthesised endogenously in the urea cycle. Also referred to as Cit, H-CIT-OH, and H-L-CIT-OH, it carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29241900.

In personal care formulations, L-Citrulline functions as a humectant and skin conditioner by attracting and retaining moisture within the stratum corneum, while its buffering capacity helps stabilise product pH in aqueous systems. In food and nutraceutical applications, it serves as a precursor to arginine, supporting nitric oxide biosynthesis in targeted functional nutrition products.

L-Citrulline is available in pharmaceutical-grade and food-grade forms, with compliance traceable to Ph.Eur. and FCC monographs where applicable. It is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU supply. Standard packaging formats include fibre drums and multi-layer bags suited to bulk procurement.
