Description

L-Cysteine Hydrochloride (CAS 52-89-1), also known as L-Cysteine HCl, H-Cys-OH HCl, or simply Cysteine HCl, is a stabilised salt form of the naturally occurring sulfur-containing amino acid L-Cysteine. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29309099.

In food and bakery applications, it functions as a dough conditioner by cleaving disulfide bonds in gluten proteins, reducing mixing time and improving extensibility. In personal care formulations, it acts as a reducing agent in permanent wave and hair-straightening systems, and as a skin and hair conditioner that supports moisture retention through its humectant properties.

L-Cysteine Hydrochloride is available in pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur., USP) and food-grade (FCC) specifications, supplied as a crystalline solid. It is fully REACH-registered for supply within the EU/EEA. Standard packaging includes 25 kg fibre drums, with documentation available to support GMP procurement requirements.
