Description

L-Histidine Hydrochloride (CAS 645-35-2), also referred to as L-Histidine HCl or Histidine Monohydrochloride, is the hydrochloride salt form of the semi-essential amino acid histidine. It carries no assigned E-code and is commercially supplied as a stable, water-soluble crystalline material suited to industrial processing environments.

In pharmaceutical formulations, L-Histidine HCl functions as a buffering agent in injectable biologics and protein-based drugs, stabilising pH and protecting active molecules from aggregation during storage. In clinical nutrition and parenteral amino acid solutions, it supplies histidine directly to patients unable to synthesise adequate quantities. Animal feed manufacturers incorporate it to correct amino acid deficiencies in compound feeds.

L-Histidine HCl is available in pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur., USP) and food-grade (FCC) specifications. The substance is registered under REACH and supplied in fibre drums or multi-layer bags, typically in 25 kg quantities. Certificates of Analysis, Safety Data Sheets, and regulatory documentation are available on request.
