Description

L-Leucine (CAS 61-90-5, EC 200-522-0) is a branched-chain essential amino acid commonly abbreviated as Leu or L-Leu. It does not carry an E-number designation. Supplied as a white crystalline powder with the molecular formula C6H13NO2, it is one of the nine amino acids the human body cannot synthesise independently.

In personal care formulations, L-Leucine functions as a hair and skin conditioner by reinforcing the protein structure of keratin and supporting moisture retention at the cellular level. In food and pharmaceutical applications, it acts as a humectant and pH buffer, stabilising active compounds and controlling water activity in finished products.

L-Leucine is available in food-grade (FCC), pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur., USP), and cosmetic-grade specifications. It is fully compliant with REACH regulation and is manufactured under GMP conditions where pharmaceutical use requires. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags, with smaller quantities available on request.
