Description

L-Lysine monohydrochloride (CAS 657-27-2) is the hydrochloride salt form of the essential amino acid L-Lysine, commonly referenced as Lysine HCl, L-LYS HCl, or H-Lys-OH HCl. It carries no E-code designation and is distinct from free-base lysine in its improved solubility and handling stability.

In personal care formulations, Lysine HCl functions as a hair and skin conditioner by binding to negatively charged keratin sites, improving texture and moisture retention. In food and feed applications, it corrects lysine deficiency in cereal-based diets, and in pharmaceutical buffering systems it regulates solution pH through its dual amine groups.

Lysine HCl is supplied in feed-grade, food-grade (FCC), and pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur.) specifications to meet sector-specific compliance requirements. It falls under REACH registration obligations within the EU (EC 211-519-9, HS 2922.41.00) and is available in 25 kg bags or bulk quantities.
