Description

L-Valine (CAS 72-18-4, EC 200-773-6) is a proteinogenic branched-chain amino acid, also referred to as Val, L-Val, H-Val-OH, and H-L-Val-OH. It carries no E-code designation and is not classified as a food additive under EU regulation. It is one of the nine essential amino acids that the human body cannot synthesise independently.

In personal care formulations, L-Valine functions as a hair and skin conditioner by supporting the amino acid profile of the stratum corneum, improving moisture retention through humectant action. In food and pharmaceutical applications, it serves as a buffering agent to stabilise pH and contributes antioxidant activity by scavenging reactive species in protein-based systems.

L-Valine is available in food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade specifications, with compliance to FCC and Ph.Eur. monographs depending on intended use. The product is subject to REACH registration and is supplied as a crystalline powder. HS code 29224995 applies for EU import and export classification.
