Description

Laureth-3 (CAS 3055-94-5), also known as LEA, C12E3, dodecyltriglycol, or lauryl triglycol ether, is a nonionic ethoxylated fatty alcohol surfactant produced by reacting lauryl alcohol with three moles of ethylene oxide. It carries no E-code designation and is identified under EC number 221-280-2.

In personal care formulations, Laureth-3 functions as an emulsifier by reducing interfacial tension between oil and water phases, enabling stable cream and lotion systems. In textile and leather processing, it acts as a scouring and degreasing agent, penetrating fiber structures to lift oils and soils through its balanced hydrophilic-lipophilic character.

Laureth-3 is supplied in technical grade and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU market placement. It is available in standard bulk and intermediate packaging formats. Procurement teams should confirm supplier REACH compliance documentation and Safety Data Sheet currency before sourcing.
