Description

Lauric Acid Diethanolamide (CAS 120-40-1), also known as Diethanollauramide or by trade names such as Crillon LDE, Clindrol 101CG, EMALEX NN-7, and EMALEX NN-9, is a fatty acid alkanolamide derived from lauric acid and diethanolamine. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under surfactants with the molecular formula C16H33NO3.

In shampoos and liquid soaps, it stabilises foam by reinforcing the surfactant film at the air-water interface and boosts viscosity through micellar interaction with anionic co-surfactants. In textile scouring and leather processing, it acts as an emulsifier and degreaser, solubilising oils and greases to allow their removal from fibre and hide surfaces.

This material is supplied as a solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Procurement teams should confirm grade specifications, including free amine content and colour index, with the supplier prior to ordering, as these parameters vary between commercial grades.
