Description

Lauryl hydroxysultaine (CAS 13197-76-7, EC 236-164-7) is a zwitterionic surfactant derived from lauryl betaine chemistry, carrying both sulfonate and hydroxyl functional groups. It is commercially available under trade names including Rewoteric AM-HC, Betadet S 20, and Obazoline AHS 103, and is commonly abbreviated as LHSB.

In personal care formulations, LHSB functions as a foam booster and co-surfactant in shampoos and body washes, stabilising foam structure across a broad pH range. In textile and leather processing, it acts as an emulsifier and degreaser, reducing interfacial tension between oils and aqueous process baths to facilitate soil removal and fibre penetration.

Lauryl hydroxysultaine is supplied as an aqueous solution and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Union. Procurement teams should confirm supplier SDS documentation and purity specifications prior to sourcing. Standard packaging typically includes drums and intermediate bulk containers.
