Description
(+)-Limonene (CAS 5989-27-5) is a naturally derived monocyclic monoterpene obtained primarily from cold-pressed citrus peel oils, commercially known under names including D-Limonene, LEMOSOL, and Carvene. It carries no E-code designation and is registered under EC number 227-813-5.
In personal care formulations, it functions as a fragrance component and skin-conditioning solvent, helping to dissolve oils and carry active ingredients into the formulation matrix. In industrial cleaning and printing applications, it acts as a bio-based degreaser and ink solvent, displacing petroleum-based alternatives by cutting through hydrocarbon residues through direct solubilisation.
This material is available in food-grade (FCC-compliant) and cosmetic-grade specifications, both subject to REACH registration. It is supplied in standard drum and IBC formats and must be handled in accordance with applicable SDS requirements, including its classification as a skin sensitiser under CLP regulations.
