Description

Magnesium chloride hexahydrate (CAS 7791-18-6, formula Cl2Mg.6H2O) is an inorganic magnesium salt available under trade names including Crystallin Cs and the abbreviation CMH. It carries no E-number designation and is listed in pharmacopoeial references as Magnesii Chloridum.

In water treatment, it acts as a coagulant by destabilising suspended particles, allowing them to aggregate and settle. In oil and gas drilling fluids, it functions as a density-control additive and clay stabiliser. Food and pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as a magnesium source and pH buffer in mineral fortification and tablet formulation.

Magnesium chloride hexahydrate is supplied in food-grade (FCC), pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur.), and technical-grade specifications. It is registered under REACH and complies with applicable EU regulations for its respective application sectors. Packaging typically includes 25 kg bags and bulk quantities depending on grade and application requirements.
