Description

Magnesium hexafluorosilicate (CAS 16949-65-8, EC 241-022-2), also known as magnesium fluosilicate or magnesium silicofluoride, is an inorganic fluorosilicate salt supplied as a powder. It carries no assigned E-code and is not classified as a food additive.

In concrete and masonry treatment, it reacts with calcium hydroxide at the surface to form insoluble calcium fluoride and silica gel, densifying and hardening the substrate. In textile and leather processing, it functions as a preservative and surface-conditioning agent, inhibiting microbial degradation while modifying fibre wettability. Water treatment applications use it as a controlled fluoride source.

Magnesium hexafluorosilicate is supplied as a technical-grade powder and falls under REACH registration requirements for EU market supply. Buyers should confirm lot-specific purity documentation and SDS compliance with CLP/GHS classification. Packaging formats vary by supplier; bulk and intermediate bulk container options are typically available for industrial volumes.
