Description

Magnesium L-aspartate (CAS 2068-80-6) is the magnesium salt of L-aspartic acid, also referenced under the synonyms Magnesium Aspartate, Monomagnesium L-Aspartate, and Magnesium Hydrogen Aspartate. It carries no assigned E-code and is distinct from inorganic magnesium salts by virtue of its amino acid-derived anion.

In personal care formulations, it functions as a chelator to sequester trace metal ions that would otherwise destabilise emulsions, and as a humectant that draws moisture into the stratum corneum. In food and pharmaceutical applications, it serves as a bioavailable magnesium source and pH buffer, moderating acidity in aqueous systems through its amphoteric aspartate moiety.

The material is supplied as a white powder in food-grade and cosmetic-grade specifications, with compliance documentation available against FCC and Ph.Eur. monographs where applicable. It is registered under REACH and can be sourced in 25 kg bags or fibreboard drums depending on volume requirements.
