Description

Magnesium sulfate monohydrate (CAS 14168-73-1) is an inorganic magnesium salt containing one molecule of water of crystallisation, commercially known as Kieserite. It is the naturally occurring mineral form of magnesium sulfate and is distinct from the heptahydrate (Epsom salt) in its lower water content and higher magnesium concentration by weight.

In agriculture, Kieserite serves as a direct-application magnesium and sulfur fertiliser, correcting soil deficiencies that limit chlorophyll synthesis and enzyme activation in crops. In water treatment, it adjusts magnesium ion concentrations to meet hardness targets and supports pH buffering in process water systems. Food and pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as a magnesium source and processing aid.

Magnesium sulfate monohydrate is available in fertiliser, food-grade (FCC), and pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur.) specifications. It is subject to REACH registration and is handled under standard GHS compliance frameworks. Typical supply formats include bulk granules and bagged product in 25 kg or 1000 kg quantities.
