Description

Methyl glucoside propoxylate, commercially known as GLUCAM P-10 and GLUCAM P-20 and also referred to as PPG-20 Methyl Glucose Ether, is a propoxylated derivative of methyl glucoside produced by reacting methyl glucose with propylene oxide. It carries no assigned E-code and is identified under CAS 61849-72-7.

In rinse-off and leave-on personal care formulations, it functions as a humectant by binding water within the skin's surface layers, while its ether backbone improves spreadability and acts as a carrier for active ingredients. In pharmaceutical topical preparations, it supports rheology modification by influencing viscosity and texture at low use concentrations.

Methyl glucoside propoxylate is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU market supply and is available in liquid grade suitable for direct incorporation into aqueous and emulsion systems. Procurement quantities typically range from drum to IBC formats depending on supplier.
