Methyl tris(methylethylketoximo)silane, also known as MTO, methyl tributanoxime silane, or methyl tributanoneoximesilane (CAS 22984-54-9, EC 245-366-4), is an oxime-functional silane crosslinker used in room-temperature-vulcanising silicone systems. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29319090.
In neutral-cure RTV-1 sealants and silicone coatings, MTO releases butanone oxime upon moisture exposure, enabling crosslinking of silicone polymers without acidic or basic by-products. In adhesive formulations it also acts as an adhesion promoter and wetting agent, improving substrate bonding on glass, metal, and plastics. At low concentrations it functions as a catalyst in silicone cure systems.
