Description

Methylamine (CAS 74-89-5), also known as MMA, MeNH2, methanamine, and carbinamine, is a primary aliphatic amine derived from methanol and ammonia. It is commercially handled as a compressed gas or aqueous solution and serves as a reactive building block across multiple industrial synthesis chains.

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, methylamine functions as a key intermediate in the synthesis of active compounds, including analgesics and antihistamines, by introducing a monomethylamino group into target molecules. In agrochemical production, it reacts with chlorinated precursors to form herbicide and pesticide intermediates. It also acts as a pH regulator and catalyst in polymer and resin systems.

Methylamine is supplied as an anhydrous gas or in aqueous solutions of varying concentrations, typically 40% w/w. It falls under REACH registration requirements within the EU, and handling documentation including SDS and purity certificates are available upon request. Packaging options include cylinders and IBC containers.
