Methyldibromoglutaronitrile (CAS 35691-65-7), commonly abbreviated as MDGN and also known under trade names such as Tektamer and by abbreviations BBMG and DBDCB, is a halogenated nitrile compound used as an industrial biocide. In water treatment and industrial preservation, MDGN controls microbial growth by alkylating thiol groups in bacterial and fungal enzymes, disrupting cellular metabolism.
