Methylenebismorpholine

Methylenebismorpholine (MBM), also known by the trade name Starcide MBM and the synonyms dimorpholinomethane and bismorpholinomethane, is a morpholine-derived formaldehyde condensate registered under CAS 5625-90-1 and EC 227-062-3. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified within the amine chemical family.

MBM functions as a formaldehyde releaser, generating controlled levels of free formaldehyde in aqueous systems to deliver broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. In metalworking fluids and industrial lubricants it suppresses bacterial growth that causes fluid degradation and odour. In water treatment and coatings, it acts as a preservative and simultaneously provides corrosion inhibition by forming a protective interface on metal surfaces.

MBM is supplied as a liquid and is available in standard industrial drum and IBC packaging formats. It is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area.
